Constantine WWTP

The Village of Constantine’s Wastewater Treatment Facility underwent a full-scale modernization to replace aging infrastructure and bring the system up to current environmental and operational standards. Prior to construction, the site contained several outdated process structures and equipment nearing the end of their service life. Much of the system had limited treatment capacity and lacked the efficiency needed to meet future demand and regulatory requirements. The site sat untouched for nearly 20 years before the Village decided to revive it.

Grand River Construction demolished existing structures and equipment and constructed several major new components, including a triplex influent pump station, a new headworks building with mechanical screening and grit removal, and a state-of-the-art MBBR biological treatment system. We also completed rehabilitation of the existing clarifiers, digesters, and laboratory building, installed a new ultraviolet disinfection system with a redesigned effluent outfall, and added major upgrades to solids handling, process piping, valves, chemical feed systems, and plant-wide SCADA and electrical systems. Site improvements included new fencing, paving, and restoration work to ensure long-term durability and safety.

Today, the Constantine WWTF is fully operational and equipped to provide reliable, efficient wastewater treatment for years to come. The upgraded facility enhances environmental protection for the St. Joseph River watershed and represents a key infrastructure investment in the village’s future.
